The Middle Child
As his third year was coming to a close, Colt's print professor - Lisa Neighbour - asked if anyone would be available to help compile the 3rd year art exhibit. When Colt volunteered to help, he didn't expect to be handed the role of curator along side a class mate of his and another graduate from his program. Over the course of seven months, the three of them had weekly meetings to put together their first ever art exhibition.
From this experience, not only did Colt learn how intense the curatorial industry is, but he also uncovered his passion for the industry. He reviewed multiple submissions, supervised the budget, selected catering, hired a bartender and a graphic designer, ensured there was security for the reception tonight, obtained a liquor license, repaired the gallery walls, hung the works to proper heights while creating the perfect flow from piece to piece, the list goes on.
He is extremely thankful for the Women's Art Association of Canada for providing them with the space that night, and continuing to share this same event annually with new potential curators in the Art & Art History program.
